Covid has been a challenge for all of us, but a challenging time can be a birthplace for change.
When we’re in a difficult situation, the last thing on our minds is change or growth. That’s when willpower becomes important.
Think of it like this, if you’re stuck in a hole, would it be wise to just give up and not do anything to get out of it? No, it wouldn’t be. The sensible thing to do in that situation would be to try to get out of the hole. That means using your cognitive ability to come up with strategies to get out of the pit.
It’s been a testing time for all of us - this pandemic has created a massive “pause” within the world. The world as we know it has changed. Social distancing, having to wear masks in public, quarantining, not being able to do the normal activities we were used to, it's been a major shock.
But with everything, there’s always a light at the end of the tunnel, it seems hard to believe that when we’re deep into tribulations, but perspective plays a key role in every situation. Take small steps to change your mindset into a more positive one - that could mean saying uplifting mantras, talking to someone you trust, asking for advice, or journaling your thoughts.
As a collective, we’re all in this together, and we’ll get out of it together, stronger than ever. We are all connected somehow, whether we know it or not. As Rumi once said, “Even when tied in a thousand knots, the string is still but one”, if each of us changes our mentality for the better, we will rise from this pandemic and we’ll be able to handle anything that comes our way!
